Sparkle Trend: Perfect for the Holidays

Metallic and shiny stuff is nothing new when it comes to fashion. It’s around every season. But in fall 2009, it’s actually called the sparkle trend because designers have upped the ante. What’s great about sparkle this year is it’s not just about silver and gold. Look for black sequins and darker metallics such as bronze, copper, led or platinum. You can achieve this look with sequins, jewels or metallic fabrics.

Our favorite is the sequined tank, which can easily be worn under a blazer or leather jacket. This is a great way to highlight your upper body – perfect for pear shaped girls. Wear yours with an a-line skirt or menswear trousers. Straight shaped girls, try the same thing but keep the colors similar on top and bottom.

Regalia's other favorite style is sequin covered or metallic fabric dresses. Depending on the cut of the dress either of these works for all figures. Straight figures try a little shift dress. Everyone else, go for a sheath. If you're a pear shape, get one with an a-line bottom.

For daytime, combine your sparkle with basics like blazers, jeans or trousers. For evening, go for the dress. Keep your accessories to a minimum and let the sparkles speak for themselves.
You can introduce elements of the sparkle trend with your handbag, shoes or jewelry.

Regalia's Spring Trends Forecast for 2010

Hot pants & boy shorts
If ever there was a time to hit the gym, it's this Spring. Hemlines have crept up to shorter than short; in fact reaching the negative. Hot pants, boy shorts, and tap pants are all variations on this shorter-than-short style.

Knee high & over the knee socks
Knee high socks - as well as over-the-knee and thigh high socks - are back as a trend, and the options on how to wear them are many. From the sporty to the sparkly, to layerings of socks over tights; a great pair of socks can add volumes to an outfit.

Future warrior
The military and tribal trends collide to become this fierce fashion trend. Ancient civilisations come to life in leather tunics, metal plating, and war paint. Unequivocally fearless and with room for endless creativity, the main criteria for the modern warrior is confidence.

High dress splits
How to pull off the ultimate in sexy without reaching for the micro-mini? Add a long dress with a high split to your Spring wardrobe

Jumpsuits & playsuits
Every so often, one-piece styles of clothing have a revival. What started with bodysuits and leotards is now becoming a full-fledged trend towards jumpsuits, playsuits, and rompers. As a unique style for Spring 2010, they won't be for everyone, but they will offer more options than you'd think.

Patterned & printed pants
No longer must we stick to boring block colours on our lower half, for all varieties of printed pants have made their way onto the Spring runways. Whether floral, striped, abstract, bold or subdued... patterns on pants are giving us new bold wardrobe options for the warmer months.

Regalia's Top 7 Fall Trends

1. Leather Jacket- Motorcycle or cropped version, This can be edgy with lots of buckles and zippers or feminine like the one pictured above.
2. Blazers- Boyfriend, Tuxedo, or military style versions. Looks great over a dressy top and jeans or even thrown over a graphic tee. *Petite body types should choose a shorter version.
3. Little Black Dress (LBD)- This was seen in a wide variety on the runway. A black dress is a staple in any closet because it can be styled and accessorized to take on a completed new look season after season.
4. Ruffles- Balances out a look when used on leather and adds a feminine flair to tops, jackets, etc.
5. Animal Prints- Sometime look best in small doses such as; a skinny belt, pump, clutch, or top with a jacket paired over as pictured above.
6. Strong Shoulder- Whether it be a big shouder on a jacket or dress, or an exposed one-shoulder style dress or top.
7. Accessories with hardware- This can be in the form of buckles, zippers, grommets, studs, or chunky jewelry. We are seeing a lot of hardware on boots, booties, and handbags this season.

Regalia has been helping to give clients on any budget gain greater self-esteem by providing customized personal styling services to cater to each individual person. The new service being offered will cater to honeymoon shopping and packing. It will be tailored to the destination and any specific activities that may be planned. Regalia wanted to make the deal as easy and stress free as possible so, they are charging one set fee that will include all time and services.

“I know, from recently getting married less than a year ago, that there are always last minute fees and charges that unexpectedly add up. We wanted to offer a package with one reasonably set price so, the couple knows exactly what to expect.” says Metcalf

So, what exactly is included in this honeymoon package? It begins with the initial consultation to discuss the couples overall needs. Then it is followed by; a wardrobe analysis which allows Regalia to see what the clients already have in their closet to choose from, shopping for a few additional pieces or outfits, garment fitting and selection, a mini photo flip book with styled outfits for each day of the trip, and packing services. The cost is only $600 for the bride alone or $1,000 for the couple. The price will remain the same whether it is a 5 or 15 day honeymoon!

SOMETHING NEW FOR SPRING HERVE LEGER

Two things are for certain, skinny jeans are still in and light wash denim is a must for spring/summer. We love this pair of D&G cropped skinny jeans encompasses both elements. Light washes are great for a bohemian look and compliment almost every color. If you've got long legs and you choose a skinny cut, pair your jeans with some great flats and a blousier top. If you're on the shorter side...platforms and heels work perfectly!

Rachel Roy- American Designer on the Rise

Rachel Roy turned an internship at Rocawear into a classic-leaning, feminine clothing line that’s respected by critics and a favorite of celebrity stylistas. Roy launched the line in 2004 and has since expanded to full ready-to-wear and resort collections. Her uptown predilections are evident in every tailored skirt, embellished dress, and subtly sexy blouse. With a new venture into handbags, a diffusion line in the works, and plans to go global, Roy is arguably ambitious—and she might prove to be one of fashion’s few success stories.

Kate Hudson looked stunning in one of Rachel Roy's designs at the 100th Anniversary party for Cartier

Alexander McQueen Spring 2009

Alexander McQueen, environmentalist? That was the unexpected message that emanated from the mouth of a runway that was backed by a video projection of a revolving Earth, and flanked by a zoo of stuffed animals: an elephant, giraffe, polar bear, lion, and assorted other endangered species. McQueen explained, through program notes, that he had been pondering Charles Darwin, the survival of the fittest, and the deleterious results of industrialization on the natural world.

Michelle Obama chooses Jason Wu dress for Inaugural Ball

First Lady Michelle Obama stuck with her penchant for going off the beaten fashion path by picking emerging designer Jason Wu for her inaugural ballgown.

The cream-colored one-shouldered dress, which had a fitted bodice and flared skirt, was a surprising pick for the First Lady, who has typically worn striking shades such as crimson or plum during key political appearances. Mr. Wu, a 26-year-old designer who was born in Taipei, has been designing for just a few years and only recently got picked up by major stores like Nordstrom.
