producer, delegating the dressers backstage at the show and working 2 straight days in heels to make sure everything would come out perfect the day of the show. However, the last thing we would have ever thought was that one of us would actually be walking the runway in Abi's show!
We thought we had everything perfectly organized with the models call sheet posted right at the back of the runway (This is the order the models come out by number and what they will be wearing). The racks were perfectly aligned to avoid any sort of confusion with the dressers for the models. The outfits were neatly labeled with a card on each one with the models name and what her outfit consisted of, also if her shirt tied in a specific way there was a polaroid so that the dresser would know what to do. We look around one more time to make sure everything is in order to avoid the inevitable chaos that surrounds the backstage at any fashion show. . .
All the sudden a dresser runs up to us frantically telling us that her model #13 to be exact is still a no show! At this point, 10 minutes before the show is supposed to start we are in a bit of a panic. We can't switch up the order this close to the show -
Abi Ferrin, the designer, approaches Abbey and asks her if she ever thought about walking the runway. She replies with "Are you kidding me? No Way"
Well, being the persuasive business partner that I am, I convince Abbey that this is an amazing opportunity and when will she ever get the chance again!? Then I continue to tell her it will make Regalia look great if she does it. Something clicked and she agreed to walk the runway. As soon as the word "yes" came rolling out of her mouth
she was thrown into hair and makeup and given runway walk training lessons by one of the top models. I think the adrenaline had definitely kicked in at this point and Abbey was in the zone. I didn't get to see the show since I was backstage but from the sound of the crowd and the standing ovation, I know it was a sucess!
New York City Fashion week taught us a lot, we had a lot of fun, worked hard and one of us even had her debut as a model. We are definitely going back next year!
